The History Behind the Skis Presentation

This past Monday, at the invite of the White Bear Lake Area Historical Society, I had the honor of presenting the story of Tom Weinhagen and the White Bear Water Ski Company to the public for the very first time. More than 90 attendees packed into the Community Program Room at the Ramsey County Library in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. So many people showed up for this event that, unfortunately, another half a dozen had to be turned away at the door once the room was full. Not only were a handful of White Bear Water Skis on display, including Tom Weinhagen's eight foot long first pair of skis, but a few audience members even brought their own White Bear Water Ski Company skis along to display and learn more about. 
It was a blast to see and hear people's reactions to the photos and recently discovered videos, some nearly eighty years old! You know the old saying, "Time flies when you're having fun."? That was certainly the case because before we knew it, an hour had flown by and the presentation had come to a close. Afterwards I had a moment to meet with a few people that were actually featured in some of the old films and brochures from the 1950s. We were also very blessed to have Lois (Hansen) Moroney, an original member of the Bald Eagle Water Club, in attendance that evening. She was kind enough to share some photos and stories with me briefly after the presentation. I look forward to talking with her more in the very near future about the early days of the Bald Eagle Water Club and the White Bear Water Ski Company.

I am truly humbled by how well this presentation was received. The overwhelming show of support and positive feedback that I've received in the last few days since has been extremely encouraging.
